How Claude Skills work (quick primer)

A Skill is a folder Claude Code (or compatible clients) can load with domain rules, examples, and constraints.
You install from skills.sh or a GitHub repo.
When relevant, Claude applies the Skill instead of inventing process from scratch.
Good Skills raise floor quality. Bad Skills add context bloat, so only keep what you use weekly.

Are these official Anthropic Skills?

No. They are community Skills hosted on Skills.sh / GitHub. Review the repo before installing, same as any plugin.

Will Skills replace good prompting?

No. Skills encode repeated judgment. You still need clear goals, constraints, and examples for hard work.

Can I use these outside Claude Code?

Many Skills are written for Claude Code-style skill folders. Check each Skills.sh page for client support.
